Meg Otanwa is a prominent Nigerian actress as well as a producer, humanitarian and activist mainly focusing on agriculture and food security in Nigeria. Meg is also an entrepreneur who runs a restaurant in the Middle Belt of Nigeria.

Meg grew up between Lagos State and Abuja, Nigeria. She graduated with a degree in English Language from Ahmadu Bello University in Northern Nigeria and furthered her studies in Tunisia and France earning a Masters and MBA certificate. This led her to working with the African Development Bank (ADB).

A staunch lover of films and art, Meg eventually quit her job at the ADB to join the Nigerian Film Industry in 2010. Since, she has featured in a number of movies, TV series and stage productions. She took on a leading role as Koko on Africa Magic’s highly successful long running series « Hush » which is seen by millions of adoring fans daily across Africa. Meg is known to be a fearless actress. Coupled with her talent and passion for storytelling, she is able to play a wide range characters and dig deep into varying emotions as seen in her portrayal of Derin, a new mother dealing with postpartum depression, in the critically acclaimed movie For Maria Ebun Pataki (2020). This feature length film earned her a best actress nomination for the 2020 AMAA (African Movie Academy Award) and Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA). “For Maria” also won the audience award for best feature at the 2020 Film Africa, London, UK.

Meg is a polyglot with proficiency in English, French, Idoma, Yoruba and basic notions in Hausa, Portuguese and Spanish. With her love for languages, travel and international films, she has ventured into new projects with Pan-African casts and looks to continuously develop her craft at home in Nigeria and worldwide.
